Description

Three White-backed Vultures (Gyps africanus) and one Rüppell’s Vulture (Gyps rueppelli) gather in a grassy clearing in Ndutu, Tanzania, waiting their turn at a nearby kill. One White-backed Vulture faces the camera directly with sharp eye contact, while the group basks in the late-day sunlight. Editorially, the image illustrates the vital ecological role of vultures as scavengers and their hierarchical feeding behavior around carcasses. The contrasting species captured together adds valuable documentation of vulture interactions in East Africa.
